Weekend trip to Gatlinburg

Steven and I went with my parents to Gatlinburg last weekend to do a little work on their house. We did not get to Gatlinburg until late Friday night, and the picture below is my first impression of the house...the nice long steep driveway...that was totally covered in snow. It made me just a tad nervous to say the least. We made it up the drivway with no problem, but the truck did some sliding when Dad tried to put it in park. I decided this was my cue to get OUT of the truck!
Anyways, by the next morning the driveway was mainly slush, so luckily we weren't stuck in the house for the entire weekend.

this was our view from the living room on Sunday morning...wonder why they call it the Smokey Mountains, huh??

I have to give Steven credit for getting this great picture of our squirrel friend.
I got a new camera a few weeks ago and I thought this one turned out pretty good. Still trying to learn how to use the camera though.

Remember, if you are looking to get away to the mountains for a few days...check out this site.

How pretty! I have to agree with you...when the truck starts to slide - get out!

PS... I just remembered a memory... remember when we were little and we were coming home from gburg and it was snowing and we were in that big van? And didn't we start sliding towards the cliff side? I think I was like 1 years old.. but I do have a scar from this... yikes!

I don't really remember us sliding so much, but I definitely remember seeing other cars sliding all over the mountain. These memories are why I am so freaked out by bad weather coupled with driving. The weather doesn't bother me so much as long as I don't HAVE to go anywhere.

Your parents have a great view of the mountains from their home! This makes me want to go to the mountains!
