Weekend trip to Gatlinburg

Steven and I went with my parents to Gatlinburg last weekend to do a little work on their house. We did not get to Gatlinburg until late Friday night, and the picture below is my first impression of the house...the nice long steep driveway...that was totally covered in snow. It made me just a tad nervous to say the least. We made it up the drivway with no problem, but the truck did some sliding when Dad tried to put it in park. I decided this was my cue to get OUT of the truck!
Anyways, by the next morning the driveway was mainly slush, so luckily we weren't stuck in the house for the entire weekend.

this was our view from the living room on Sunday morning...wonder why they call it the Smokey Mountains, huh??

I have to give Steven credit for getting this great picture of our squirrel friend.
I got a new camera a few weeks ago and I thought this one turned out pretty good. Still trying to learn how to use the camera though.

Remember, if you are looking to get away to the mountains for a few days...check out this site.

Happy Birthday Steven

We celebrated Steven's birthday on Sunday night with my family. Mom and Dad brought their pictures from CA, so we watched them on the wii while they told us about their trip.

Cool bama cups from Kristen and Matt...I sure will enjoy drinking out of these

Dad just couldn't handle anymore excitement...guess we were boring him.

Tuesday was Steven's actual birthday. I borrowed this cake mold from a friend and attempted to make Steven a birthday cake...you know in honor of the championship.

Here's the first cake...this one was a no go...since it broke all through the middle

here's the second one...thought it turned out pretty good. Don't know if I ever make another one though...I hear Edgar's makes a good Bama cake.
Happy Birthday Steven!

We are the Champions!

I cannot believe a week has passed since Alabama won the national championship! I know many of you are tired of hearing about it...but maybe a few of you can't get enough!
As normal, we watched the game with the Beasley's, and a few others who just happened to be Auburn fans :)
I'm not sure who I need to talk about this, but why do they have to have the national championship game on a Thursday night? I mean, don't they know people work on Fridays...well most of us do. Couldn't they have just waited one more day and had the game on Friday? I'm just sayin'.

Getting ready for the game to start

Right before half time, we surprised Steven with a cookie cake for his birthday! The kids had a lot of fun surprising him!

Brook stops and gets a picture with Steven...but no picture with Keri and Brook

Now while the rest of us were in Birmingham, watching the game on TV, my lovely parents were in Pasadena at the game.
As I recall, Mom & Dad went to the game the last time Bama won a national championship...17 years ago...and did not take me to this game either!
Jealous?? Nah, not at all!

the final score...

leaving the Rose Bowl
Until next football season...I will move my focus to Alabama gymnastics.

Happy New Year!

We had a fun New Years celebration with friends at Lake Martin. Rhonda and Jimmy invited us to join them along with Missy and Tim and all of the kids to ring in the new year.

Steven was so kind to share his Nerf guns he got from Santa this year (and last year) and the kids had a blast playing with them.

Benji got to come too!

Brook and Austin sure do love their Steven
