Christmas at Mema's

We celebrated Christmas at the lake/farm this weekend with my Mom's side of the family

Kristen and Harley lounging at the lake house

Mema picked up these dogs on the side of the road a few weeks ago. I'm not really sure if Mema had officially decided on a name for the dogs, but when Barry and Susan arrived on Friday, Barry immediately started calling them Harry and Lloyd (since he had just recently watched Dumb & Dumber), so before the weekend was over Mema was calling them Harry and Lloyd as well...it was too funny!

*****Our ornament swap with the girls in the family*****

Since Amber is in Slovakia, Barry was kind enough to sit in for her on the ornament swap. He was so excited with his ornament..I mean Amber's ornament.

Kristen was thrilled that she opened the beautiful bird ornament

Amber has always joked that Mark is Susan's favorite, so when I found these ornaments last year after Christmas, I could not pass them up. I mean, isn't the first born always the favorite child?
I really hated that Amber was not here to see Mom and Susan open these ornaments. I hope she enjoys these pictures.

view of table #1 and table #2 wearing their crowns...I am so proud of Steven for wearing his pink crown :)
A little history behind the crackers (where the paper crowns come from):

Steven looks good in pink! Why do ya'll wear the crowns? Is that just a tradition? But for whatever reason, it looks like ya'll have a great time! Love it!!!

We started doing the crackers several years ago, so we just always have them at Thanksgiving and/or Christmas...which ever holiday we get together for. It's a tradition in the UK and other countries...inside the cracker is a paper crown, a small toy (hence the instruments being played) and usually a joke. They are a lot of fun!

Thanks for all the pictures! I hate that I missed all that fun! I'm sure my mom will treasure that ornament forever.
