Visiting with The Abercrombie's

The Abercrombie's stopped in Birmingham on Friday night on their way to Myrtle Beach and had dinner with me and Steven. I enjoyed their visit so much, especially since it's been so long since I've seen them. Please come back and visit again soon!!

I only took a few pictures Friday night...

Another weekend at the lake

Wendi, Shaun and Braelyn came up and spent the day with us at the lake on Saturday. Since I hadn't seen Braelyn in several months, I had to take LOTS of pictures of her.
She looked so cute in her swimsuit and absolutely loved swimming with everyone in the lake.

All decked out in her cute swimsuit cover up...ready for the lake.

Shaun & Wendi arm wrestling...I think Wendi won :)

Braelyn got a little chilly on the boat ride

Friday night, on the way to the lake, we took a detour through Jasper, and stopped to have dinner with Howie, Amy, their two boys and Greg and Ann. We hadn't seen them in forever, so it was great to see them and catch up.
I'm sure we'll be seeing more of them soon, since football season isn't too far around the corner.

Happy Anniversary to Kristen & Matt

I can't believe it's been 4 years since Kristen and Matt got married. They are celebrating this week as they are vacationing in Sedona, Arizona.
Here are a few pics from their wedding day....
the happy couple

Brook looks so tiny in this picture with Kristen. She was so excited to be in Kristen's wedding and really enjoyed hanging out with all of the girls that day.

Happy Anniversary to a wonderful sister and brother-in-law!

Emerson Caroline Salmon

Mere just sent me a picture of Emmie on my phone, so I had to post it, so that everyone could see her. Isn't she so precious?
Emerson Caroline
9 lbs, 4.75 oz.
21 inches long
I think Emmie looks just a tad like Lainie did when she was born. What do you think?

Lainie--I think this picture was taken not longer after she was born

Congrats to the Salmon Family!

Mere

I get to work this morning and I am anxiously waiting to hear if Emmie has arrived. So I make my way over to Kimie's (Mere's sister) blog and see that she is here!
Mere went into labor last night and had Emmie early this morning at 12:21am! I can't wait to see pictures of her. I will be sure to steal some pics from Kimie or Mere's page and post them.

***A little tribute to Mere***

Since today is the birth of Mere's second child, I thought I would do something a little special in honor of her (since she was quick to remind me that I did not give her a birthday shout out on my blog. In my defense, Steven and I were on the way to NOLA to leave on our cruise on her birthday...but I did call her on the way).
I did a little digging through many albums and boxes and came across this picture of me and Mere.

Mere, do you remember where this picture was taken?!?
Fun times...
Mere and I became good friends through church, when she and I were in high school. We were pretty much inseperable. In between she and I babysitting and her softball games, we did have lots of fun together.
Congrats on the birth of Emmie! I am so excited for you guys and can't wait to meet her!

Just call me Grace...

It seems that in my old age, I am getting more and more clumsy.
Not long after we got to the lake Friday morning, we started heading down to the pier. As I place my foot on this new sidewalk area that my parents, Kristen and Matt have worked so hard on, I think to myself, these pavers are a little slippery, I need to be careful. The thought had hardly gone through my brain, when I go tumbling down...catching myself with my right knee (now my right knee will match my left knee with the scar I have from where I fell over a year ago in the parking lot at work). Steven convinces me that we should put some New Skin on it, so after going back and forth, I finally agree to it. He barely touches my knee with the stuff before I go into orbit. That stuff burned SO bad! Just imagine putting fingernail polish on an open wound...yep it did not feel so good. He has used this stuff several times and he obviously has a MUCH higher tolerance for pain...I pretty much already knew that though. Yes, I know, I am a wuss!
Now it has started to scab and actually looks a lot worse than it does in this picture.

In case my knee was not enough...I was stepping off the back of the golf cart Friday night and I caught my left leg on something...it was dark, I'm not really sure what it was. Anyways, I am sporting a nice purple bruise on the back of my leg. Sorry no pictures of the bruise.
Guess my beauty pageant days are over with these scarred up legs...

4th of July Weekend

We had a great 4th of July weekend at the lake.

Jen & Eric joined us Friday afternoon. We shot fireworks Friday night...well Kristen & Matt did...the rest of us just watched them. Saturday we spent another day out on the lake.

We had a little storm come through Friday afternoon...as you can see by the dark clouds in the back of these pictures. All of the sudden everything on the pier just started flying everywhere. We were trying to keep towels, chairs, life jackets, floats etc from flying off into the water. It was wild there for a little while until the storm passed.

Hope everyone had a great 4th of July!

Happy Birthday Julie

Happy Birthday to someone I've known as long as I can remember...

My parents and Julie's parents have been friends before either of them had children. So it is safe to say that Julie and I have been friends as long as we've been alive.

Here's a little trip down memory lane...

Me and Julie celebrating my 5th birthday at my Smurf party.

We were so cool!

Last Saturday night, we celebrated Julie's birthday at Jackson's.
